The player plays as either the male protagonist, Tristan Moore, or female protagonist, Trisha Moore. The core of Dark October gameplay is the strong character development as well as the unified and customisable nature of combat and magic skills, which will be only be revealed in detail to backers as the development of Dark October progresses. While in the field, even the smallest of trinkets could help the player in the fight against evil.
In every level, the player is sent by the Order to an area of a city or suburb taken over by demons. The Order will supply the player with any information it has, but it is up to the player to patch up the missing information through investigations. During investigations, the player would encounter and defeat various demons that get in the way. By solving the mystery, the player unmasks the dark emissary hidden amongst us and defeat it with enchanted sword and magic.
Once the dark emissary is defeated, depending on the different choices made, the player acquires different upgrades, powers, and skills. Aside from the main objective of purging the world of evil, the player is free to help out in side quests, discover new outfits, relics or Easter eggs.
Combat
Playing as the protagonist, the player will encounter demons or other monsters as opponents. These opponents can only be harmed by magic, and only magic can protect you. Our magic combat system features using the 4 elements that can be channelled in either light or dark pathway. Use the light pathway for protection and improvements to the protagonist’s abilities, while use the dark pathway to do damage to opponents. The power of the 4 elements can be used directly or focused into a sword or clothing depending on player’s preference. Combining different elements either through strategic preparations or tactical decisions will be the key to a successful battle.
