Magic itself was the mystery.
People believed 300 years ago, magic exists, along with the all forms of demons and those who worshipped them. If you ask any of the older folks in Shorecliffe, they say
"We owe it to the brave heroes who sealed away demons. But beware, dark metal could undo the doorways between our world and theirs, and it should never be found."
Is there such thing as magic, demons or dark metal that threatens our world?
An age-old question asked by many, even by the greatest of minds. But no, there isn’t. Not until Dark October, that one day in October, when demons appeared and killed nearly everyone, when magic is no longer a mystery, but real. Now, the new mystery is why did October went dark?
Before October Went Dark…
October, the month that was all about joy, fun and celebration. The older folks, they remember. They say that the celebration was to commemorate the brave heroes who wielded the power of the elements that brought the demons to their knees, and forced them out of our world once and for all.
Even back then, no one really believed those stories were true. Who can blame them? After all, demons are invisible to most. However, the people of the small town of Shorecliffe were different, they were superstitious, and they believed them. Not just the stories, but also the existence of magic and powerful relics lost in the sands of time.
The town of Shorecliffe is just right outside the city of Highshore Hills, separated by solid and nearly impenetrable hills. Right before Dark October, advances in technology made it possible to build a new tunnel and railroad through these very hills and Shorecliffe was no longer a small town.
When It Happened
Once, it was said that our world and the other side meets during October, where horrors await. In one October after all these years, demons came out of nowhere and killed a lot of people. Five years later, they called it Dark October. Ever since then, the sky is forever dark and the demons, they thrive in the darkness, roaming freely in almost every street and building out there.
When the demons came, new heroes rose to the challenge. Together, they founded the Order with only one goal in mind: to vanquish the forces of evil and restore order. And they do so one step at a time, starting with the town of Shorecliffe and some surrounding areas.
After Dark October, some people can hear the whispers of demons, corrupting them into the dark emissaries of the demonic world. They can control demons and terrorise people. Sometimes, they could do much worse. Immune to the usual type of weapons, they can only be defeated by enchanted weapons or magic. However, most of these knowledge was lost during the time of peace.
